These trees did not used to wear sweaters. This is a park on my path between the train and school, and I was amused when the first single tree apparently donned clothing appropriate to the coming cooler days. I told my daughter about them, and we both wondered who in the park had this odd but warm sense of empathy. Over ensuing days, more and more trees suddenly appeared in their new fall colors.
Then, on the way home one day, I caught the sprites in the act. So, I stopped to ask. I was watching fiber art be put into place. The artist, Suzanne Tidwell, wanted to brighten up the park. The vibrant trees certainly had been brightening my daily walks. They reminded my of my crazy striped toes socks I loved as a kid.
I also learned that this installation was in the process of being moved from another park to this one.
I am sure the trees brighten the days for others as well--whether they spend a lot of time in the park or are dashing through to catch a bus.
Let there be light!

I hope the derelicts don't get confused when they are sleeping on the benches at night!
It is probably during the cold and dark of night that a little "light" is most appreciated!
